Agribusiness Training

This year Upendo Foundation supported 43 groups technically and financially in the two rainy seasons to expand their activities. Field staff went around visiting groups and training them on production skills but it was clear that groups require business skills in addition to production skills.

The first business skills training was held on 19th November 2020 for representatives of 19 groups. The purpose of the training was to add skills and knowledge that will allow farmers to move from farm to firm. Where we intend to create a food and business knowledge platform to our farming groups by facilitating agribusiness related information exchanges within and between farmer groups to strengthen their capacity to sustainably support the development of agribusiness.

Participants were taken through qualities of an entrepreneur, cost saving techniques, post harvesting handling skills and profit and loss accounts. Other trainings that will follow will include value addition of various commodities record keeping and marketing strategies.
